At Iowa Farm Sanctuary, we provide a safe haven to rescued farm animals in need of love and compassion while providing humans the opportunity to experience the unique sentience and intelligence found within these animals.

Carl's 2nd Birthday!
October 7, 2018

Help us celebrate the triumph of one tiny calf and the compassion that saved his life! Carl the cow was rescued from a veal auction (and certain death) just a few days before our very first fall fundraiser. His fate was uncertain, he was so tiny and his health was so poor-- we did not know if we would ever celebrate his first birthday. Carl defied all odds and has grown to be an incredibly healthy and loving cow— and now we get to celebrate his 2nd birthday!!!

Purchase your ticket at

That’s right, just buy a shirt— it will count as your ticket!

Can’t come to the party but still want a Carl shirt? That’s cool too! Shop away!

Just make sure, if you’re coming to the party, wear your new Carl shirt!

More details to come! We sure hope you'll join us!

Why  is  a Sanctuary Important?

Saving a handful of animal's lives may not make a big impact on the agricultural industry here in Iowa, but it will be the biggest impact possible for every single animal that is saved.

Giving farm animals a home where they can live a life free of confinement is the least we could do for these sentient beings. We recognize farm animals have been regarded as food or a product for far too long and we want to provide an opportunity for people who have not interacted with farm animals an opportunity to see for themselves how complex and intelligent the animals are.
