Ed

Ed joined the Iowa Farm Sanctuary family in November 2022 after he was rescued from a horrific neglect case in Washington County, IA. There were over 100 starving sheep, goats, and pigs living on the property among their dead friends and family members. The property was littered with piles of deceased animals. Nobody had access to adequate food or water, and everyone was starving. The poor souls on this property were languishing in some of the worst conditions we’ve ever seen.
Ed and his best friend, Russ, were rescued together on our second day at the WaCo site and have been inseparable ever since. Soon after they arrived at our sanctuary, Russ had to be rushed to Wisconsin for emergency medical care, and Ed tagged along for emotional support. We knew that Russ was in bad shape, but we didn’t expect to learn that Ed was seriously ill as well. Both boys were filled with parasites—far beyond anything their doctors had ever seen before and far beyond what they even believed to be survivable. Incredibly, Ed and Russ responded to treatment, and both made a full recovery.
The bonded pair beat the odds together and continue to enjoy each other’s company in the safety of sanctuary. Ed is still learning to trust humans, but we’ve learned that animal crackers are the way to his heart, and we’re happy to provide an endless supply!
When you sponsor an animal for a year you make a HUGE difference in their life. With your donation you will be helping Ed with all of his care, from routine vet visits to daily feedings.
With your yearly sponsorship (payments recurring monthly) you will receive quarterly updates and pictures of your resident in your email, your name on the IFS website, plus a spot on our exclusive sponsorship slideshow, viewable in the IFS store. Also, receive a free pass for all Sanctuary Strolls for the duration of your sponsorship!
Come out and meet the animals you’ve sponsored—so they can thank you themselves! This is the gift that keeps on giving, for you and for Ed.
For your convenience, this sponsorship will automatically renew each year until you choose to discontinue sponsor support.
