Meet Hobbes, a little piglet with an enormous will to live.
At just a few weeks old, Hobbes survived more than many face in a lifetime. Found alone on the side of the highway, his fragile body scraped with road rash and his future uncertain, he was rushed to safety, thanks to the kindness of strangers. When we learned about him, we knew we had to help. Though we weren’t accepting pig intakes at the time, Hobbes' story was one we couldn’t turn away from.
Hobbes was born into a system that treats animals as commodities. Torn from his mother far too soon, he had been packed onto a transport truck bound for a life of suffering. But in a moment of sheer instinct and bravery, Hobbes made an incredible leap, escaping the moving semi and landing on the open road.
Remarkably, he suffered no broken bones, though his tiny body carried the trauma of his escape. Like any infant, Hobbes longed for comfort and safety, often curling up in laps, craving warmth and connection.
In sanctuary, Hobbes will be surrounded by love and protected by the promise that he will never again be treated as anything less than someone. His spirit is gentle, his presence joyful, and his journey a powerful reminder of what it means to fight for your life.
