Junior

Junior joined the Iowa Farm Sanctuary family in November 2022 after he was rescued from a horrific neglect case in Washington County, IA. There were over 100 starving sheep, goats, and pigs living on the property among their dead friends and family members. The property was littered with piles of deceased animals. Nobody had access to adequate food or water, and everyone was starving. The poor souls on this property were languishing in some of the worst conditions we’ve ever seen.
Junior is a tiny little goat with a gigantic heart. While Boer goats are typically quite large, Junior will likely stay petite as he ages due to the severe malnourishment he experienced as a baby. In addition to starvation, Junior contracted a disease called CAE prior to his rescue, which is a progressive illness that causes arthritis and encephalitis. While Junior was asymptomatic at the time of his rescue, he will eventually experience joint and neurological symptoms, for which he’ll receive specialized care.
Since the moment we met him, Junior has been the most social, loving, and affectionate little soul. He’s just so happy and grateful. Junior loves to spend time with his human caregivers and would happily follow us anywhere. He’s a gentle ray of sunshine, and we’re so lucky to know him.
When you sponsor a resident for a year, you make a HUGE difference in their life. Your donation helps us cover the cost of Junior’s daily care — from routine vet visits to feedings multiple times per day.
With your yearly sponsorship (payments recurring monthly) you will receive quarterly updates and pictures of your resident in your email, your name on the IFS website, plus a spot on our exclusive sponsorship slideshow, viewable in the IFS store. Also, receive a free pass for all Sanctuary Strolls for the duration of your sponsorship!
Come out and meet the animals you’ve sponsored—so they can thank you themselves! This is the gift that keeps on giving, for you and for Junior.
For your convenience, this sponsorship will automatically renew each year until you choose to discontinue sponsor support.
