Muffin was rescued from a horrific hoarding situation in Pennsylvania as a newborn. The animals on the property were so starved that Muffin and the other baby goats were nursing from any mom who had milk to give. Because of this, it was almost impossible to determine which babies belonged to which mothers—so we ended up welcoming four mommas and four babies into the IFS family. With time, maternal bonds became apparent, and we realized that Muffin was likely an orphan, adopted by all the mommas. While her friends all stay by their mother’s side, Muffin bounces around from mom to mom. It’s heartbreaking to consider what circumstances separated Muffin from her mom, but despite the fear and sadness she must have known during the first few weeks of her life, Muffin is the most social, curious, and affectionate little goat. She’s the definition of joy and resilience. She has such a pure and grateful heart.
