Nel is a gentle, quiet little pig. Like most piglets in the industry, Nel was separated from her mother and loaded onto a truck with up to 2,600 other piglets when she was just 21 days old. While the truck sped to the feeding facility where the piglets would stay until they reached “production age” (just six months old), baby Nel jumped or fell from the truck, which ultimately saved her life. Many piglets who take a leap of faith during transport don’t survive the fall, but thankfully, Nel landed safely, making her way to sanctuary instead. Nel has been melting hearts with her angelic personality and perfect manners since the moment she arrived at our sanctuary—she’s so polite and snuggly! Nel shares her resources without a second thought and treats everyone she meets with love and kindness. If everyone could just be like Nel, the world would truly be a better place.
