Penny’s journey began on a beef farm where she was destined to become someone’s dinner. However, her story took a turn when it was discovered that she wasn’t nursing from her mother. After a closer look, caretakers found she had a significant cleft palate, making it difficult for her to eat.

After several months of bottle feeding, Penny’s caretakers knew she needed more specialized care than they could provide. That’s when she found her forever home here at Iowa Farm Sanctuary, where she receives the tailored nutrition and care she needs to thrive.

Here, Penny enjoys a barn full of friends and has formed a special bond with her stall mate, Milo. You can often find these two snuggled together, happily chewing their cud and enjoying life to the fullest.
