Sam

Prior to his rescue, Sam was living at a petting zoo. A few compassionate visitors noticed that Sam was limping badly, and when they learned that he was going to be sent to auction due to his injury, they asked if the petting zoo owner would be willing to surrender him instead. Thankfully, the answer was yes!

Sam’s rescuers contacted Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen, New York for help, and they graciously agreed to take him into their care. Farm Sanctuary quickly moved Sam to Cornell University for treatment, where it was determined that he had a closed fracture on his left tibia. The petting zoo owner had speculated that Sam was kicked by a horse, and his injuries were consistent with that theory. He must have been in so much pain.

Sam’s injury was so severe that it required surgical placement of a plate and screws to repair the damage. But thanks to an abundance of love, care, and physical therapy, Sam made a full recovery. Farm Sanctuary knew that Sam needed the perfect forever home, and we’re so honored that they chose us!

Sam is truly the happiest little goat—he always has a smile on his precious face. We’re so thankful for the compassionate rescuers who saved his life and for Farm Sanctuary’s incredible work to help farmed animals, like Sam.
