Stratus was rescued from a massive factory farm with her friend, Cirrus, in November 2020. She was being raised to be eaten by humans on Thanksgiving and was just days away from slaughter at the time of her liberation. Over 46 million turkeys are killed for Thanksgiving each year in the United States, which is an absolutely breathtaking number. Raised just to be killed, the lives of these innocent, sentient individuals are mercilessly extinguished en masse. And “life” in a factory farm is generally characterized by filth, darkness, fear, and suffering. Stratus is a soulful, emotional, and affectionate individual. She loves to receive physical affection from her caregivers and has the sweetest purr you’ll ever hear. All turkeys deserve to live long, happy lives without abuse or exploitation by humans. We are so thankful that Stratus will never become someone’s dinner.
