Tay

Tay

Tay was born at a large dairy farm, where she would have been just another number if she hadn’t needed specialized care. Because she was born with disabilities, Tay was kept in a medical wing, which gave workers the opportunity to fall in love with her. When they reached out to us for our help, we knew we had to act fast.

We could see that Tay had unique facial features and was having a hard time walking, so we took her to the hospital right away. We learned that some of Tay’s bone didn’t develop fully—she was missing a portion of her jawbone, and two of her legs had misaligned and underdeveloped bones. While Tay was a happy, bright, energetic calf, we knew that her bone structure could become problematic as she grew.

Sadly, we were told that surgery would not help Tay, and would only put her through unnecessary pain and suffering. Euthanasia was offered, but we knew that we had to bring Tay home. And thank goodness we did—she absolutely thrived with us for months and months! Nobody was more joyful than Tay!

Knowing that her time with us was never going to be enough, we celebrated every single precious moment with her. She was truly an angel on earth.
