Addison spent at least two years of her life alone and without adequate care. We knew she was living on a property a few miles from the sanctuary, but despite our efforts, we were unable to secure her surrender. More recently, concerned neighbors called us and said they hadn’t seen any humans on the property in a while. Addison was still there, underweight and tethered to a tree, without protection from predators or the elements. The neighbors were bringing her water each day.

We called the sheriff’s department to request a welfare check on Addison. Upon the responding deputy’s arrival at the property and after his assessment of the situation, we were granted the go ahead to take Addison into our care. We were so incredibly relieved, and so was Addison!

Despite her neglectful past, Addison is nothing short of social, loving, and incredibly sweet. She prefers human friends to goat friends and loves a good sugar treat (or a few)! From now on, Addison will be surrounded by love and companionship, receive regular vet care and always have plenty of food in her belly. She is free to wander and explore throughout the pasture and will never be tethered again.
