Sponsor Al for a Year

Sponsor Al for a Year

$44.00 every month

When you sponsor a resident for a year, you make a HUGE difference in their life. Your donation helps us cover the cost of Al’s daily care — from routine vet visits to feedings multiple times per day.

With your yearly sponsorship (payments recurring monthly) you will receive quarterly updates and pictures of your resident in your email, your name on the IFS website, plus a spot on our exclusive sponsorship slideshow, viewable in the IFS store. Also, receive a free pass for all Open Barn Days! Come out and meet the animals you’ve sponsored—so they can thank you themselves! This is the gift that keeps on giving, for you and for Al.

For your convenience, this sponsorship will automatically renew each year until you choose to discontinue sponsor support.

Al joined the Iowa Farm Sanctuary family in November 2022 after he was rescued from a horrific neglect case in Washington County, IA. There were over 100 starving sheep, goats, and pigs living on the property amongst their dead friends and family members. The property was littered with piles of deceased animals. Nobody had access to adequate food or water, and everyone was starving. The poor souls on this property were languishing in some of the worst conditions we’ve ever seen.

On the first day of the WaCo rescue, we urgently triaged the individuals on site, moving the most medically fragile, including Al, to safety as quickly as possible. Not long after his rescue, we found Al unresponsive in the barn. We rushed him to Wisconsin for emergency medical care, all but certain he wouldn’t survive the ride. Miraculously, Al pulled through—he must have known how close he was to a life of freedom.

Al is a tiny guy and has had trouble gaining weight and muscle tone since his rescue. He was so starved as a baby that he will likely always be undersized and weaker than other goats his age. Goats play rough, and Al has a hard time getting back up if other goats knock him down, so he receives a lot of extra care and supervision to ensure he’s safe and comfortable. While he was very distrusting of humans at first, Al has grown to prefer humans over other goats! Al has the biggest, most loving eyes. It’s impossible not to love this gentle little fella.
