Meet Brandy, a resilient goat with a heart full of sweetness.

Before arriving at IFS, Brandy experienced a traumatic leg injury that would forever change the course of her life. Originally named Brownie (but with another Brownie already living at IFS!), Brandy was lovingly renamed as she began her transition into sanctuary life.

Her caretaker had found her tangled in weed wacker wire and believed the crisis had passed once she was freed. But in the days that followed, it became clear the damage was far more severe. By the time Brandy came into our care, her back right leg was mummified — black, hairless, shrunken, and rock-hard. A distinct line marked where circulation had been cut off, and her leg was in the process of detaching.

While the leg itself was dead and devoid of feeling, the stump was excruciatingly painful. Despite her pain, Brandy has shown incredible resilience. She’s learned to move on three legs, has a hearty appetite, and is as sweet as can be.

During the ride to IFS, she discovered a love for dried banana chips, a snack that’s become part of her welcome ritual.

Here, she’ll have the time, space, and support she needs to recover, as well as the freedom to simply be herself.

Brandy’s future is filled with warmth, safety, and love.
