Faith’s life before she joined the IFS family was riddled with sadness. This precious girl was born into the beef industry, where she ended up suffering severe frostbite that caused her to lose an entire rear hoof. Because of her disability, it wasn’t safe for Faith to live with the other cows at her farm, so she was sent to live at a neighbor’s house until she was old enough for slaughter.

While at the neighbor’s house, Faith met and formed a deep bond with Arlo, a calf with mobility differences. Faith immediately became Arlo’s protector. Back then, Faith was known as “Cheeseburger” and Arlo was known as “Milkshake”. We were originally contacted to rescue Arlo, who needs ongoing specialized care, but once we learned about Faith, we knew that we had to do everything in our power to save her too.

Thankfully, compassion prevailed, and we were able to rescue both Faith and Arlo- preserving their family-like bond and giving them a lifetime together in the safety of our sanctuary. When Faith first arrived at the sanctuary, she was very wary of human begins and looked at us from a distance with uncertain but curious eyes. We’ve allowed Faith to set the pace, and she’s learning to trust us more every single day. There is something so incredibly soulful about Faith- her deep chocolate brown eyes reveal her thoughtful, kind nature. And Faith’s love for Arlo is so pure that it is a constant reminder that true love exists. We’re so very lucky to know her.
