Koa came to Iowa Farm Sanctuary after enduring something no lamb should ever have to face. Originally intended to be a child’s 4-H project, she was discarded and left in untreated, horrific pain after a botched tail docking procedure caused serious injury. Rather than receiving the care she desperately needed, Koa was deemed not worth saving — and faced slaughter.

We couldn’t let that be her story.

After weeks of intensive care and multiple trips to the vet, Koa pulled through. She is living proof that with time, patience, and love, healing is possible. She is safe now. She is seen. She matters.

Koa will never again be mutilated, commodified, denied veterinary care, or abandoned. She will spend the rest of her days knowing exactly what she always deserved — a life full of peace, safety, and the freedom to just be a lamb.
