Pearson was rescued from the Cricket Hollow Zoo in Manchester, Iowa. He and more than 400 other animals were removed from the zoo because of “deplorable” conditions—and that’s putting it lightly. This roadside zoo was home to bears, mountain lions, baboons, reptiles, tropical birds, a camel, and a llama— among many other animals. We witnessed some of the most horrific suffering we’ve ever come across at this zoo. We’re so thankful we were able to rescue Pearson along with Casper, Cedric, and Claire the ducks and Willy the cow from this nightmare situation.

Photos don’t do Pearson justice. He has the most beautiful feathers—they have a metallic sheen when the light hits them. He’s befriended our gang of ducks and chickens, and he’s already begun to compete with Osiris for the affection of the ladies. He’s really quite the charmer.
