Millie

Sweet little Millie was our eldest sheep resident to come live at the sanctuary. She was surrendered to us in early Fall 2020 with her daughter, Gennie, and friends, Elsa and Leo. At the time of her surrender, Millie was 14 years old. While sheep can naturally live up to 20 years when well-cared for, most are killed between 6 months and 6 years of age, depending on whether they are exploited for meat or wool.

Millie was a tiny gal. She was actually smaller than most of our goat residents! Because of her advanced age, Millie was blind in one eye, and she moved a little slower than her friends, but this did not stop her from being endearingly social and affectionate. Millie was always ready to offer snuggles. She was 100% love. Taking care of Millie was such a tremendous honor, and we are so thankful that she was allowed to grow old. We will miss you forever, Grandma Millie.
