Luna’s journey to Iowa Farm Sanctuary is one of heartbreak, hope, and new beginnings. She is one of the “Basement Pigs” rescued by our friends at Kanda Farm Sanctuary, who found her and several others living in unimaginable conditions. They were trapped inside a dilapidated kitchen, with rotting floors so unstable that some pigs had fallen through into the basement below.

When we learned about their rescue, our hearts ached. We hoped one of these brave souls might be the perfect companion for our beloved Dot. Thanks to Kate, Kanda’s incredible director, we found our match in Luna.

Now the only pot-bellied pig at the sanctuary, Luna has settled in beautifully. She’s learning that every day here comes with soft bedding, nutritious meals, gentle care, and the freedom to be herself. While her start in life was full of hardship, Luna’s days are now filled with sunshine, snuggles, and the promise of safety for the rest of her life.
